When I was 15 years old, I had the great luck to attend the Cleveland premiere of Jim Jarmusch's "Down by Law" with my father. Not only was my mind blown by the film, but I was also lucky enough to receive a commemorative program with photos from the film, and an essay by Lucy Sante. I still have the program--one of my great treasures. I realized then that the ephemera that documents a work of art is as powerful and enduring as the work of art itself.
"5 (or 6) Short Films" is a realization of my love for film, for ephemera, for the film community that nurtured me in my youth, and for my father.
"5 (or 6) Short Films," is a Fluxkit that contains drawings, photographs, collages, screenplay pages, posters, and other ephemera. It is meant to be held, studied and played with. It is a nonlinear film that you can deconstruct and re-construct to your heart's content.
